We kept the plan intentionally simple. Rachel chose a flowing neutral dress that moved beautifully in the breeze and complemented the muted sand and water. Her partner wore soft, earthy layers so the photographs would feel cohesive without looking overly coordinated. The result was timeless and relaxed—exactly the kind of wardrobe that lets connection remain the focus.
Rather than moving through a checklist of poses, we began with a slow walk near the water. I offered gentle prompts: lean into each other, notice the baby moving, share what you are most excited to experience as parents. Those small conversations created natural gestures and expressions that could never be manufactured for the camera.
The best time to schedule maternity photographs is usually between 28 and 34 weeks. Your bump is beautifully defined, but most expecting parents still feel comfortable enough to walk, sit, and move through a full session. Every pregnancy is different, though, so we choose a date based on how you feel rather than following a rigid rule.
Long Island gives us so many wonderful settings for maternity portraits, from open beaches and grassy dunes to quiet gardens and light-filled homes. The right location is the one that matches your pace and personality. If bare feet in the sand do not feel like you, an at-home session can be every bit as meaningful—and often even more personal.
These photographs are not only about documenting how pregnancy looked. They preserve the anticipation, tenderness, and slightly surreal feeling of loving someone you have not met yet. If you are expecting and would like to create something honest from this season, reach out early so we can reserve your date and begin planning a session that feels completely your own.
